Castore scores on home turf at Liverpool ONE
Grosvenor Europe has announced that premium British sportswear pioneer, Castore, has chosen Liverpool ONE for its second store, marking the brand’s bricks-and-mortar debut outside of London.
Headquartered in Liverpool, Castore was established in 2016 by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon, both born and raised in the city. Sharing backgrounds in competitive sport and finance, the pair launched the brand in London, in response to an identified need for discerning and innovative performance wear as an alternative to mass-market brands.
Castore quickly garnered an international following and backing from industry heavyweights, including tennis legend Andy Murray, who joined in 2019 as Board Advisor and ambassador, wearing Castore apparel throughout his recent Wimbledon and Australian Open campaigns.
Selecting a 1,579 sq ft unit at 17/18 Manesty’s Lane for its first step outside the capital, Castore’s new site will complement the brand’s existing store on Chelsea’s King’s Road, as well as the brand’s burgeoning e-commerce presence, which includes premium online stockists MatchesFashion, Selfridges and Mr. Porter.
Set to open on 10thApril, Castore’s Liverpool ONE store will reflect the brand’s philosophy of ‘Better Never Stops’, offering specially engineered men’s apparel, along with its newly-launched womenswear line. Each product is designed in the UK and manufactured in Portugal, using advanced engineering and unique Italian-milled technical fabrics to optimise athletic performance.
Alison Clegg, Director, Asset Management,Grosvenor Europe, commented: “Liverpool ONE has become a beacon for brands venturing outside of the capital due to the destination’s innovative selection of world-class names, and consistently strong footfall figures. Castore has become a brand of choice for athletes across the world who demand the very best quality. With its roots firmly in the city, we are sure Castore will be widely welcomed amongst Liverpool ONE’s catchment.”
Tom Beahon, Co-Founder at Castore, added: “After a successful emergence on to the online and London markets, our unrelenting commitment to engineering the highest quality sportswear in the world has propelled us to this exciting expansion. Castore was born in Liverpool and the city holds huge significance in our hearts, so we can’t wait to open this new location and join the brilliant line-up of brands at Liverpool ONE.”
The signing follows the news that a duo of luxury heritage beauty brands have joined Liverpool ONE’s retail mix. British perfume house Penhaligon’s recently opened their first North West flagship, whilst American skin-care brand Kiehl’s relaunched its store, both within Peter’s Lane.
Cushman and Wakefield and Metis acted for Liverpool ONE. Castore dealt direct.
