LabTech, owners of Camden Market, have today announced the signing of Baba G’s, Indian inspired burger brand, marking their first dine-in restaurant concept in the Market’s North Yard.

Since winning My Million Pound Menu earlier this year, the brand has been searching for a fitting bricks and mortar site to suit a restaurant offer. Baba G’s has selected the North Yard to bring their acclaimed, signature Bhangra Burgers to a new site which offers 50 covers inside. This debut follows Baba G’s London street food presence, launching in 2008 with a stall in Pop Brixton and having started their Camden journey with a stall in the West Yard, overlooking Regent’s Canal. Baba G’s will be keeping the their unit in the West Yard and the new restaurant in North Yard will cement the opportunity to have a wider, more extensive menu alongside their signatures.

North Yard is to become home to a brand-new, indoor selection of food and beverage operators, fusing the cobbled streets of The Stables Market with an enhanced area of dining options. Offering more of a sit-down experience, international variety and increased quality, North Yard’s dining options will also expand on Camden Market’s breakfast and brunch options for visitors. Baba G’s will join a diverse line-up of restaurant and food-focused brands secured by LabTech, including the recently announced rotisserie concept, Kuku Riku, which joins Roadkill, Pambam, Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner, Roly’s Fudge and The Camden Grocer.

Baba G will join London’s first 100% vegan diner, Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner, who celebrated their first anniversary in April, with a new larger site at Camden Market’s North Yard. The brand’s expansion adds to the ongoing revitalisation of the Market’s North Yard, and will be three times the size of their original site, complete with a brand-new vegan shake bar.

Maggie Milosavljevic, LabTech’s F&B Commercial Director, commented: “Baba G’s popularity has shone through following over a decade of street food service, right up to being a winner of the Million Pound Menu. The brand now has the opportunity to open up a dine-in restaurant and our North Yard redevelopment really fit the bill for this type of operation. North Yard will capture the essence of Camden Markets with diverse street-food style cuisine, but adapt our offer to allow a sit-down restaurant service, building upon dwell time and opening the opportunity for later diners. Baba G’s offers a unique menu for visitors and will only continue to grow here in Camden’s North Yard.”

Liz Selway, Co-founder of Baba G’s added: "We have been in search of the perfect bricks and mortar site after our success on My Million Pound Menu and we're pleased to confirm we'll soon be part of Camden Market's current revitalisation and opening our first sit-down restaurant within the North Yard.  When the opportunity arose to see our brand grow further, Camden offered the energy and reflected the ethos of the Baba G experience, mixing up the signature Bhangra burgers with inspired side shares and dishes for Camden’s diverse customer-base.”

The Baba G’s signing follows LabTech’s recent announcement of their vision for Hawley Wharf Camden; a 580,000 sq ft mixed-scheme development due to open in September 2019.  Hawley Wharf will deliver a unique Camden-style ecosystem for visitors and workers to enjoy.  The canal-side mixed-use development will provide 150 shops, over 60 places to eat, 195 apartments and 60,000 sq ft of co-working space.
