Gold plating: Debut wood-fired concept launches at Shaftesbury Capital's Kingly Court
Shaftesbury Capital has announced that Goldies has officially opened within Soho’s Kingly Court. Created by the team behind revered local bistro Blanchette, the 1,100 sq ft restaurant on the ground floor represents a debut location for the hospitality concept, in a prime location that serves both Carnaby Street shoppers and those that make a dedicated trip to Kingly Court for its quality food and drink offer.
Goldies’ menu focuses on the use of a wood-fired grill, with a selection of small and large plates connected by rich, smoky flavours. Highlights include a Merguez Scotch Egg with harissa mayonnaise, Marinated Baby Chicken with smoked yoghurt, and Grilled Wild Mushrooms, Baby Leek, and a confit egg yolk. In a nod to the founders’ French roots, variations of the iconic Frites are the signature of the restaurant, which are hand-cut and twice-cooked, in either beef dripping or vegetable oil.
The design of the space is also centred on the expertise of wood-fired cooking, with kitchen counter seating to create a dramatic dining experience for guests, and a total of 44 covers inside and 25 outside. Classic bistro style can be seen throughout, combined with contemporary elements, in reflection of the menu.
Maxime and Yannis Alary, Co-Founders of Goldies, commented: “After spending a decade in the West End, it’s a special moment for us to open our new concept, Goldies. This key anchor unit on Kingly Court’s ground floor means we will benefit from the dedicated visitors to the foodie heart of Soho, as well as shoppers on Carnaby Street seeking high quality dining as part of their experience. We have carefully curated every detail of the Goldies experience, from the food to the ambiance, and we cannot wait to share it with the visitors who make this area so vibrant. We hope to make Goldies a must-visit destination, like so many of our neighbours who call Kingly Court home.”
Goldies has joined an array of high-quality eateries within Kingly Court, the three-storey al fresco destination serving the world-renowned Carnaby Street and Soho more widely. The destination’s rich mix of tenants that cannot be found anywhere else now extends to 10 independent concepts – including Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, modern Filipino restaurant Donia, Peruvian hub Señor Ceviche, and late-night cocktail venues Cahoots and Disrepute – ensuring a completely unique, all-day visitor experience and providing exciting reasons to return time and time again.
