The Yards, Covent Garden, welcomes debut restaurant for Pan-Asian concept, Gura Gura
Longmartin Properties Ltd, a joint venture between Shaftesbury and the Mercers’ Company, has announced that Gura Gura, a brand-new Pan-Asian concept, has launched its debut restaurant within The Yards, Covent Garden.
Located at 19 Slingsby Place, the 2,900 sq ft UK debut site offers a modern menu with flavours from across Asia, spotlighting Japanese, Thai and Chinese elements, developed by experienced restauranteur, Gobind Chona. The extensive food offering includes a selection of fresh, hand-made sushi from the sushi bar, as well as a variety of nigiri and sashimi platters and Uramaki.
At the centre of Gura Gura’s menu is a range of larger plates with a range of classic and fusion dishes on offer including Kabayaki Black Cod with shellfish velouté and pea sprouts, Robata grilled lamb rack marinated in soy served with nori gratin dauphinoise.
Building on The Yard’s distinctive day-to-night offer, Gura Gura’s seasonal cocktail menu celebrates many of the same core ingredients used in the food dishes whilst also offering exciting new flavour combinations. Highlights include Balsamic Sea which combines a mix of nori, raspberry and rose cordial and Highland Harvest Scotch and Tobacco Negroni, providing a twist on a classic with the addition of tobacco liquor and maple syrup. Designed by Orphic Design Studios, the 110-cover restaurant spans two floors and takes inspiration from the myriad of Pan-Asian cultures represented by Gura Gura, with a colourful and playful design throughout. The second floor features a sweeping bar and a dedicated sushi counter, accessible via a bespoke wine tunnel.
Gobind Chona, Director of Gura Gura, commented on the restaurant’s debut: “I am delighted to be launching my debut UK restaurant Gura Gura within The Yards, one of London’s best dining hubs. It has been brilliant to see our vision of a fun and accessible Pan-Asian eatery come to life and I am thankful for all the support from the Longmartin Properties’ teams.”
On behalf of Longmartin Properties Ltd, Simon Taylor, Property Director at the Mercers’ Company added: “Gura Gura’s selection of The Yards for its debut UK site is a brilliant triumph for the destination and further strengthens our position as one of the best day-to-night F&B offerings in the capital. The brand adds another highly exciting addition to our varied selection of restaurants, which includes Lahpet, miscusi, and Dishoom.”
The opening follows the news that Longmartin Properties launched its festive activation, 12 Drops of Christmas at The Yards, Covent Garden, using pioneering geo-located technology for the first time in a UK retail setting.
