Lendlease flies off the mark with triple signing at Elephant Park

Lendlease has announced a trio of fitness-focused signings at Elephant Park. They will be amongst the first brands to take space within the latest phase of the £2.5bn regeneration project, where thousands of new homes alongside a diverse range of retailers and restaurants are being delivered by Lendlease, in partnership with Southwark Council, within Zone One of central London.

The new signings have agreed to take space within two new buildings, located between New Kent Road and Ash Avenue, which will also be home to Lendlease’s first collection of Build to Rent homes within the European market. The ‘Living by Lendlease’ rental homes will be the first to be managed by the international property and investment group, and tailored to meet the needs of their new residents.

  • Combat training fitness specialists, Fight City Gym, have signed for a 5,459 sq ft space on New Kent Road, complementing their existing sites in Balham and Moorgate. Catering for individuals at all levels and ages, Fight City Gym specialises in Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Brazilian, Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo, combining high standards, elite coaches, and state of the art training equipment to refine technique and improve clientele fitness.

  • Comprehensive reformer ‘pilates to music’ specialists, Tempo Pilates, have signed for a 2,498 sq ft space at Elephant Park’s Ash Avenue, adding a fourth unit to their existing sites in Hackney, Shoreditch and Covent Garden. Tempo Pilates uses the tempo of the music to provide a fun and challenging class that channels controlled body movements guided by breath whilst encouraging core strength and concentration.

Guy Thomas, Head of Retail at Lendlease, commented on the latest openings and signings, saying: “The recent signing announcements for Fight City Gym, More Yoga and Tempo Pilates add to our offer for the local community and highlight our commitment to building a sustainable and balanced array of operators within Elephant Park.”

Mani Johal, Co-founder of Fight City Gym, said: “Elephant Park is an exciting new destination and stands as the perfect location within which to expand our offer in South London. We are very excited to have signed for a space here and look forward to seeing our combat training classes embraced by individuals of all fitness levels within this existing and emerging Elephant and Castle community.”

Shamir Sidhu, Founder and Chairman of MoreYoga, added: “At MoreYoga we are committed to offering accessible and affordable classes located conveniently for people’s day-to-day lives, and Elephant Park acts as the perfect local destination to provide this to a new audience. After launching our first studio in 2016 we have gone from strength to strength and are delighted to have signed for our 34th space in London; we look forward to welcoming Elephant and Castle community members through our doors and providing everything MoreYoga is about to this vibrant community.”

These fitness signing announcements follow the recent installation of ‘The Living Room @ Sayer Street’, Elephant Park’s meanwhile use unit positioned in the project’s food, beverage and creative precinct. The Living Room @ Sayer Street forms part of Lendlease’s wider investment in creative solutions for the public realm, joining a wildflower meadow, public art, and innovative light installations that are already in place at Elephant Park.

When complete the Elephant Park project will feature four and a half hectares of public space, the planting of 1,300+ trees in the borough, and a 101,000 sq m park with mature London plane trees, play area and water feature. The neighbourhood is expected to become one of the Capital’s most vibrant destinations for living, working and simply enjoying.
