centre:mk reports footfall growth bucking national trend

·      centre:mk reports 2019 footfall is up +2.5 YOY

·      Shows changing footfall patterns and shopping behaviours with significant growth Monday’s and Sundays as well as post 5pm

·      Reflects strength of dominant regional locations which continue to attract retailer investment

centre:mk, one of the top 10 shopping centres in the UK, is bucking the nationwide trend of declining footfall, and has reported that the centre’s footfall is up +2.5% YOY.

As a regionally dominant shopping and leisure destination centre:mk continues to attract high spending shoppers, attracted by the convenient layout and extensive range of brands on offer such as John Lewis, Next, Primark and River Island. 

centre:mk’s performance is defying the national picture and continues to appeal to both shoppers as well as retailers. In 2019, the centre welcomed 10 new retailers - Neon Sheep, Newbie, Typo, Primark, Chatime, Morano’s, Trailfinders, Skechers, Lovisa and Lush.

centre:mk saw over 3 million visitors over the Christmas period. On Boxing Day, the centre opened its doors at 6am to welcome over 100,000 shoppers hoping to pick up a bargain in the Boxing Day sales. Shoppers were seen queueing outside stores from just after midnight to be first in line for the biggest bargains. Just under 1,000 shoppers queued to be first in line for Next’s Boxing Dale sales. Spend has been strong with some retailers reporting significant growth year on year sales. Popular sale items across the retailers included ladies fashion, smart TV’s, jewellery and fragrances.
