Fatface invests and upsizes at St David's store
The St David’s Partnership, owners of St David’s in Cardiff, one of the UK’s premier retail and leisure destinations, has announced a newly refurbished and upsized store for international lifestyle clothing and accessories retailer, FatFace.
The FatFace store footprint has doubled in size with the installation of a brand-new mezzanine level for menswear. In addition, the brand’s investment includes a complete overhaul for signage, fitting rooms, and décor. Designed by consultancy Box of Frogs, the new concept, which is also being rolled out across the UK, presents a more contemporary feel for the brand.
Speaking on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between Landsec and intu, Colin Flinn, intu’s regional managing director - west, said: “With this brand-new mezzanine level, FatFace will continue to be a high performing brand, offering a broader range of everyday wear for even more of our visitors. The brand follows in the footsteps of other major retailers who have recently refurbished and invested in their St David’s stores, including ECCO and Watches of Switzerland. This fresh new look and the significant increase in space will enable FatFace to go from strength-to-strength in Cardiff.”
Daren Humphrey, Head of Acquisitions at FatFace added: “St David’s great reputation, coupled with its location within one of the UK’s principal cities, has always provided a consistent platform for positive trading. Our investment in the Cardiff store will assist us in maintaining this robust sales performance. The addition of the mezzanine level has given us the scope to provide a higher volume of stock across menswear, womenswear and childrenswear, and we are pleased to now share our new contemporary concept store with our loyal customer base in the city.”
CBRE advised the St David’s Partnership. Gareth Storer of GCW acted on behalf of FatFace.

About St David’s Cardiff
St David’s shopping centre provides over 1.4 million sq ft of retail and leisure space and over 180 stores. Since opening its doors in 2009, it has put Cardiff firmly on the map as one of the UK’s best shopping cities and has an annual footfall of 37 million; one of the largest in the UK.
St David’s has secured a continuous stream of high calibre retailer and restaurant openings over the past five years, including many brands that have made their debut or introduced new concept stores into Wales such as Superdry opening its first dedicated Superdry Sports entrance in the UK. Recent brands also include Bershka, Slim Chickens and Daniel Wellington.
St David’s is anchored by Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and the largest John Lewis outside of London. The centre is also home to a mix of national and international retailers, such as Primark and River Island, in addition to premium brands and independents. These include Hugo Boss, Radley, Vivienne Westwood and Jo Malone. The dining offer at St David’s is equally impressive, with brands such as Wahaca and wagamama.
