Bershka strengthens St David's international fashion credentials

The St David’s Partnership, owners of St David’s in Cardiff, one of the UK’s premier retail and leisure destinations, has today unveiled the opening of Bershka, the leading international fashion label from Inditex and the brand’s debut in the region.

The new contemporary 8,500 sq ft store, situated on Upper Grand Arcade, has been designed by an in-house team and provides the brand’s unique design concept. The new store sits directly opposite sister brand Stradivarius which made its successful Welsh debut at the centre earlier this year.

Speaking on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, a joint venture between Landsec and intu, Colin Flinn, intu’s regional managing director - west, said: “Bershka’s decision to debut their Welsh flagship at St David’s further demonstrates the destination’s appeal to international brands wanting to enter the Welsh market. With its location in the heart of Cardiff and strong catchment, it appeals as a destination for retailers like Bershka to expand their portfolios. Amongst the likes of Stradivarius and H&M, trend-setting Bershka will certainly sit well on the fashion-forward Upper Grand Arcade and its arrival this month ensures our visitors have an even greater selection of fashionable retailers to shop from this festive season.”

This opening follows the recent signing of fast-casual American restaurant brand, Slim Chickens, also making its Welsh debut at St David’s with a new 2,400 sq ft restaurant, the brand’s first site outside of London.

JLL and Cushman & Wakefield advised the St David’s Partnership. Bershka represented itself.

St David’s has secured a continuous stream of high calibre retailer and restaurant openings over the past five years, including many brands that have made their debut or introduced new concept stores into Wales such as Superdry opening its first dedicated Superdry Sports entrance in the UK. Recent brands also include Stradivarius, Big Moose Café, CK Underwear, Virgin Holidays and Oliver Bonas.

St David’s is anchored by Marks & Spencer, Debenhams and the largest John Lewis outside of London.  The centre is also home to a mix of national and international retailers, such as Primark and River Island, in addition to premium brands and independents.  These include Hugo Boss, Radley, Vivienne Westwood and Jo Malone.  The dining offer at St David’s is equally impressive, with brands such as Wahaca and wagamama.
